"SULTANE'S MAGNOLIA BELLE," 1937. Nationwide attention came to the Magnolia A. and M. College campus on February 11, 1937, when "Sultane's Magnolia Belle" was crowned National Champion Jersey Milk Cow. Shown in the picture above are "Belle," and her male calf, flanked by three local men who played key roles in helping set a 365-day record of 1,043 pounds of butterfat. The men are Melbourn Walthall who milked Belle three times a day for 365 days; Paul Jetton, who had charge of the college herd, and Ves Godley, head of the animal husbandry department, who supervised the setting of the national record.

"SULTANE'S MAGNOLIA BELLE," 1936. In the picture above, awarding the 1936 championship cup are Lewis W. Morley, executive secretary of the American Jersey Cattle Club, New York; Professor Ves Godley; R. A. Patteson, director of the American Jersey Cattle Club, Muskogee, Oklahoma; and Paul Jetton, herdsman at A. & M. The picture and information are from Ves and Beulah Godley.
