Charlie Elmore, and Madison Dodson (the road overseer for the township
at that time). Each adult male was taxed for road upkeep. At one period
this bond-tax was four dollars a year, either payable in cash, or worked
out at one dollar a day, or two dollars for a man and a mule. Substitutions
were allowed as with the older boys above. Names and faces from Vernon
