A CITIZENS' WORK CREW ON THE BURNT BRIDGE ROAD, COLUMBIA COUNTY, ARKANSAS, c. 1914. Each adult male was taxed for road upkeep. At one period this bond-tax was four dollars a year, either payable in cash, or worked out at one dollar a day, or two dollars for a man and a mule.
