Exploring the
Red River: Biology Scavenger Hunt
The object of this hunt is to find and document your discovery of each
of the following items of interest to biologists. Your documentation can
be done in several ways. You can bring the specimen to the senior field
researcher (teacher) or take the senior field researcher to the specimen.
All specimens should be taken as small as possible and not all from one
place. You may collect specimens not on the list. These must be correctly
identified. These extra items cannot duplicate an item already on the list.

1. A fruiting body of Basidiomycota 5
2. A sample of Bryophyta (moss) 5
3. A sample of Bryophyta (liverwort) 5
4. A sample of Pterophyta 5
5. A female reproductive structure from Gymnosperm 5
6. A reproductive structure of an Angiospermaophyta 5
7. A fruit of Quercus 5
8. An insect 5
9. Evidence of an Arachnida 5
10. A specimen of Ammelida 5
11. A specimen of Curstacea 5
12. Evidence of Mullusca 5
13. A specimen of Gastropoda 5
14. A specimen of an edible wild plant 5
15. Evidence of avian life 5
16. Evidence of fish life 5
17. Evidence of reptilian life 5
18. A botanical fiddlehead 5
19. A leaf from Quercus 5
20. A leaf from Pinus 5
