The Red River Curriculum Project
A Project
of the
Red River Rural Schools Partnership
June 30, 1998
We are pleased to provide this information about the Red River Curriculum
Project of the Red River Rural Schools Partnership.
We hope that these ideas will spark a wide variety of exciting learning
experiences across the four school districts of the Red River Rural Schools
Partnership-Bradley, Bright Star, Fouke, and Genoa, Arkansas-and beyond.
As our mission statement reminds us,
"We may never exhaust the sources of information about the Red
River and its influence. But we owe it to our forefathers, to ourselves,
and to our children to make an effort to gather data and create a statement
about the impact of the Red River on our history, our culture, our economy,
and our environment."
We hope that teachers will examine the Learning Activities for ideas
that will work with their curricula and classrooms. The strength and innovation
of the Red River Curriculum Project will stem from the teachers who join
us in this exciting project.
Thank you in advance for your participation and have fun with your research
on the river!

River, in Miller County, Arkansas.

An elementary student makes a rubbing of tree bark during Research on
the River, a day of field research on the Sulphur River, a tributary of
the Red River.

High school students at Bright Star made an applique album quilt representing
wildlife of the Red River Basin.
