Magnolia Odd Fellows, before 1900

"Members of the Odd Fellows Lodge of Magnolia in the Gay Nineties" according to a notation written on the back of a yellowed copy of the picture by the late Mrs. Nettie Hicks Killgore. Also, in her History of Columbia County, Mrs. Killgore recorded: "For almost forty years Magnolia Lodge No. 24, I.O.O.F., flourished in Magnolia. Nearly every prominent citizen of the town was a member. The objects of the organization were wholly social and benevolent. They frequently held all-day celebrations with speaking, parades and public dinners. Associated with each lodge was a large membership of women, called Rebekahs. There were also Odd Fellow Lodges at Waldo, Lone Beech and possible other places in the county." Picture from Mrs. Mary K. Wyrick; copy work by R. Walz, SAU
