WALZ HISTORICAL PHOTOS - MAGNOLIA

One of the very few black group photographs disovered and copied by Dr. Robert Walz from around the turn of the century, this shot of the students of the old Magnolia Public School in 1919 belongs to Mrs. Mattie Brigham, of Magnolia. The school was located in the same vicintiy as the Columbia High School on Madison and School Streets, according to Mrs. Brigham. Mrs. Brigham has identified Calvin Shephard (No. 3), Leon Shephard (No. 6), and Mrs. Hattie Green, the teacher (No. 20).
