THE MORRISON PHOTOS OF EARLY CAMDEN, ARKANSAS


The Camden Municipal Building located at the corner of Van Buren and Madison Streets contained an auditorium. It burned in the 1950s.

The Nunn Home was located on Washington Street where the railroad tracks cross. Built in the eary 1800s, it served as a home, post office, court room, and church. The home was torn down in the early1900s to reduce the hill for new railroad tracks to be laid. The photograph was taken about 1893 and is a print of the original glass negative. The Camden Post Office being constructed. The building was located at 133 Washingon Street SW. Note the Courthouse in the background. The photograph is believed to date from 1893 and is from the collection of Ritchie Morgan. Morgan served as postmaster for thirty years, from the 1950s to the 1980s.
