- Aristotle is the first person that we know of to
write on psychological topics
- He is also one of the first empiricists
- His work was codified by the Church in the late
Middle Ages but the Church also forbade the collection
of new data, setting the stage for the rise of the
"New Learning" or science
- Aristotle's conception of final causes is
decidedly pre-modern and has been replaced by
parsimony or Occam's Razor.
